Ask us for the rated depth below grade before you buy — we quote the manufacturer's figure rather than one read off a photograph. As a rule, a grinder removes the stump, not the root plate; if you intend to build over it, plan on excavating as well.
Because parts and servicing are available from any groundcare dealer in the country. A stump grinder is only useful if it starts, and a GX390 is the safest bet in this class for that.
It is a walk-behind machine on two wheels, so it goes wherever you can push a barrow. Measure your narrowest gate and ask us for the overall width if it is tight.
There is no legal licence for private land. For commercial work HSE expects a competent operator; City & Guilds NPTC 0020 covers stump grinders. Keep bystanders well clear — a grinder throws chip and stone a long way.
